If nothing else in the new year, I am keeping to my Emusic resolution. While February’s picks didn’t find me another love like Greg Laswell, I did manage to use 48 of my 50 downloads.
Greg Laswell – Through Toledo. While overall Three Flights From Alto Nido is my favorite, this earlier album has some excellent songs.
Sigur Rós – Med sud I eyrum vid spilum endalaust. A band from Iceland, I first heard their song “Hoppípolla” on a soundtrack and felt much happier about life. While Emusic doesn’t have “Hoppípolla” (from the album Takk), iTunes does.
The Echoing Green – “True Love.” The latest single from a much loved band.
Oakley Hall – Gypsum Strings. This was in my Emusic recommendations. Different, interesting, rocky, folksy, somewhat-out-there music. I especially like “Lazy Susan,” but have yet to give the full album a good listening to.
Beth Waters – Self titled. Comes Brina recommended.
Icon of Coil – “Dead Enough for Life” and “Sleep: Less.” I picked this up because it was supposed to be similar to Iris. It’s not.
Suzy Solar – “Odyssee Breakbeat Remix.” The clip sounded promising.
Ella Fitzgerald – “My Heart Belongs to Daddy.” It’s Ella people, enough said.
I’ve spent too many months paying for Emusic and not downloading any music. It’s time to make a change. My new year’s resolution? Use up my 40 downloads a month.

A new design for a new year, plus a new resolution: blog at least once a week. If the snow stays intent on keeping my driveway buried, this should not be hard.
